Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.33% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438), which rose 9.98% or 0.640 points to trade at 7.050 at the close. Shunsin Technology Holdings Ltd (TW:6451) added 9.90% or 5.20 points to end at 57.70 and Optotech Corp (TW:2340) was up 8.33% or 1.20 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merry Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2439), which lost 10.00% or 15.50 points to trade at 139.50 in late trade. Pharmally International Holding Co Ltd (TW:6452) declined 9.92% or 35.00 points to end at 318.00 and Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) shed 9.52% or 2.00 points to 19.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 528 to 279 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.95% or 0.64 to $66.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.69% or 0.53 to hit $76.36 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1234.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 31.000, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.41.
