Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Unizyx Holding Corp (TW:3704), which rose 8.49% or 1.10 points to trade at 14.05 at the close. Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) added 7.17% or 5.90 points to end at 88.20 and Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) was up 6.19% or 3.00 points to 51.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025), which lost 9.50% or 1.90 points to trade at 18.10 in late trade. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) declined 7.50% or 0.18 points to end at 2.22 and Feng Tay Enterprises Co Ltd (TW:9910) shed 6.53% or 13.00 points to 186.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 450 to 341 and 128 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.11% or 0.58 to $51.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.94% or 0.58 to hit $60.86 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.15 to trade at $1296.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was unchanged 0.00% to 30.783, while TWD/CNY fell 0.25% to 0.2207.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.718.
