Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which rose 10.00% or 3.40 points to trade at 37.40 at the close. Daxin Materials Corp (TW:5234) added 9.92% or 7.50 points to end at 83.10 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) was up 9.80% or 1.20 points to 13.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lotes Co Ltd (TW:3533), which lost 9.98% or 21.00 points to trade at 189.50 in late trade. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 9.94% or 8.30 points to end at 75.20 and Chlitina Holding Ltd (TW:4137) shed 9.93% or 14.50 points to 131.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 471 to 318 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.70% or 0.43 to $62.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.52% or 0.35 to hit $68.13 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1319.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 29.523, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2193.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 92.10.
