Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.92% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were SDI Corp (TW:2351), which rose 10.00% or 5.50 points to trade at 60.50 at the close. Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) added 9.96% or 1.35 points to end at 14.90 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was up 9.93% or 2.25 points to 24.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AOPEN Inc (TW:3046), which lost 5.11% or 0.23 points to trade at 4.27 in late trade. First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) declined 4.40% or 0.44 points to end at 9.56 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) shed 4.29% or 0.30 points to 6.69.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 450 to 315 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.44% or 0.20 to $44.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $47.20 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.26 to trade at $1253.24 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 30.335, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2253.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.84.
