Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Semiconductor and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were A.S.E. (TW:2311), which rose 9.98% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.35 at the close. Compucase (TW:3032) added 9.93% or 3.45 points to end at 38.20 and Ali (TW:3041) was up 9.91% or 1.70 points to 18.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 5.45% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.16 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 4.43% or 0.44 points to end at 9.50 and Lu Hai (TW:2115) shed 3.52% or 1.80 points to 49.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 505 to 249 and 96 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.65% or 0.32 to $49.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.73% or 0.36 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1220.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 32.423, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2022.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.17.
