Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Textile and Other sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.48% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) added 9.98% or 3.00 points to end at 33.05 and Meiloon Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2477) was up 9.93% or 2.10 points to 23.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470), which lost 5.00% or 0.95 points to trade at 18.05 in late trade. Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912) declined 4.49% or 0.40 points to end at 8.50 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) shed 4.38% or 1.40 points to 30.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 390 to 375 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $42.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $44.81 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.71% or 8.87 to trade at $1254.67 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 30.422, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2249.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 97.13.
