Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Paper & Pulp and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which rose 10.00% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.15 at the close. Lealea Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1444) added 9.92% or 0.86 points to end at 9.53 and General Interface Solution GIS Holding Ltd (TW:6456) was up 9.89% or 22.00 points to 244.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Green Seal Holding Ltd (TW:1262), which lost 9.92% or 9.20 points to trade at 83.50 in late trade. Taroko Textile Corp (TW:1432) declined 7.85% or 1.30 points to end at 15.25 and Right Way Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1506) shed 7.13% or 1.65 points to 21.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 455 to 297 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.75% or 0.79 to $45.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.49% or 0.71 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.57 to trade at $1218.27 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.40% to 30.464, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2235.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 95.48.
