Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Parts/Components and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.53% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Novatek Microelectronics Corp (TW:3034), which rose 10.00% or 13.00 points to trade at 143.00 at the close. Yageo Corp (TW:2327) added 10.00% or 37.00 points to end at 407.00 and Space Shuttle Hi-Tech Co Ltd (TW:2440) was up 10.00% or 0.83 points to 9.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems Inc (TW:2444), which lost 5.80% or 1.25 points to trade at 20.30 in late trade. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 5.38% or 2.20 points to end at 38.70 and Ruentex Industries Ltd (TW:2915) shed 3.63% or 3.30 points to 87.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 772 to 79 and 55 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 5.07% or 2.58 to $53.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.64% or 2.76 to hit $62.22 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.53% or 6.50 to trade at $1232.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.40% to 30.722, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2249.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 96.782.
