Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Parts/Components and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ritek Corp (TW:2349), which rose 10.00% or 0.950 points to trade at 10.450 at the close. Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology Corp (TW:6278) added 10.00% or 3.15 points to end at 34.65 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) was up 9.94% or 40.50 points to 448.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chilisin Electronics Corp (TW:2456), which lost 10.08% or 12.00 points to trade at 107.00 in late trade. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 9.79% or 1.15 points to end at 10.60 and Chang Ho Fibre Corp (TW:1468) shed 9.22% or 0.95 points to 9.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 606 to 265 and 43 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.06% or 0.75 to $71.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.17% or 0.94 to hit $81.20 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.64% or 7.80 to trade at $1219.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.40% to 30.842, while TWD/CNY rose 0.36% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 94.74.
