Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Plastic and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.03% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Logah Technology Corp (TW:3593), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) added 9.93% or 3.50 points to end at 38.75 and Well Shin Technology Co Ltd (TW:3501) was up 9.85% or 5.40 points to 60.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Optotech Corp (TW:2340), which lost 9.50% or 2.10 points to trade at 20.00 in late trade. Nien Hsing Textile Co Ltd (TW:1451) declined 8.76% or 3.20 points to end at 33.35 and Lien Chang Electronic Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:2431) shed 8.59% or 1.55 points to 16.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 429 to 352 and 93 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.33% or 0.17 to $51.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.26% or 0.15 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 2.36 to trade at $1291.44 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.32% to 30.272, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2178.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.03.
