Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronic Parts/Components and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.72% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco Technology Corp (TW:3532), which rose 10.00% or 13.00 points to trade at 143.00 at the close. Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) added 10.00% or 5.20 points to end at 57.20 and Spirox Corp (TW:3055) was up 10.00% or 3.00 points to 33.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which lost 7.29% or 7.10 points to trade at 90.30 in late trade. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) declined 7.17% or 3.60 points to end at 46.60 and Unitech Printed Circuit Board Corp (TW:2367) shed 6.53% or 1.60 points to 22.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 422 to 373 and 95 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.11% or 0.07 to $63.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.50 to trade at $1330.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.48% to 29.238, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2172.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 90.48.
