Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Plastic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Fast Optoelectronics Co Ltd (TW:3622), which rose 9.97% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.40 at the close. First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which lost 9.94% or 7.10 points to trade at 64.30 in late trade. Meiloon Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2477) declined 7.21% or 2.05 points to end at 26.40 and Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645) shed 6.67% or 6.00 points to 84.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 568 to 215 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.64% or 0.38 to $60.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.60% or 0.40 to hit $66.56 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1297.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.43% to 29.697, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.27.
