Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Hotels and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Kaori Heat Treatment Co Ltd (TW:8996) added 10.00% or 3.95 points to end at 43.45 and Aurotek Corp (TW:6215) was up 10.00% or 2.00 points to 22.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which lost 9.96% or 4.50 points to trade at 40.70 in late trade. Accton Technology Corp (TW:2345) declined 5.26% or 6.00 points to end at 108.00 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) shed 4.62% or 6.00 points to 124.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 588 to 199 and 102 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.60% or 0.38 to $63.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.22% or 0.15 to hit $69.11 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 7.10 to trade at $1329.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.591, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2208.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 91.60.
