Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Meiloon Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2477), which rose 9.93% or 2.90 points to trade at 32.10 at the close. Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557) added 9.90% or 1.450 points to end at 16.100 and Nuvoton Technology Corp (TW:4919) was up 9.87% or 6.80 points to 75.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox Corp (TW:3055), which lost 9.89% or 3.70 points to trade at 33.70 in late trade. Kuo Yang Construction Co Ltd (TW:2505) declined 6.36% or 1.10 points to end at 16.20 and Kung Sing Engineering Corp (TW:5521) shed 5.52% or 0.95 points to 16.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 434 to 357 and 102 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.24% or 0.16 to $66.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $70.04 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 5.70 to trade at $1346.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 29.154, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2166.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 89.04.
