Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Hotels, Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.66% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which rose 9.97% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.50 at the close. Lite-On Semiconductor Corp (TW:5305) added 9.89% or 3.55 points to end at 39.45 and GenMont Biotech Inc (TW:3164) was up 9.83% or 2.30 points to 25.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which lost 5.23% or 0.80 points to trade at 14.50 in late trade. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 4.61% or 2.00 points to end at 41.35 and Tex-Ray Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1467) shed 4.37% or 0.50 points to 10.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 359 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.64% or 0.33 to $50.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.63% or 0.36 to hit $56.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.64% or 8.26 to trade at $1297.16 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 30.202, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.70.
