Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Textile and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were China Steel Structure Co Ltd (TW:2013), which rose 9.96% or 2.55 points to trade at 28.15 at the close. Gigastorage Corp (TW:2406) added 9.96% or 0.78 points to end at 8.61 and WUS Printed Circuit Co Ltd (TW:2316) was up 9.94% or 1.70 points to 18.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which lost 9.97% or 1.45 points to trade at 13.10 in late trade. Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) declined 9.91% or 3.65 points to end at 33.20 and Patec Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2236) shed 8.29% or 3.55 points to 39.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 424 to 362 and 130 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.09% or 0.06 to $67.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.33% or 0.25 to hit $74.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 5.10 to trade at $1198.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.36% to 30.788, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2232.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.25.
