Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Carnival Industrial Corp (TW:1417), which rose 10.00% or 0.61 points to trade at 6.71 at the close. Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471) added 10.00% or 0.63 points to end at 6.93 and SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786) was up 10.00% or 6.70 points to 73.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lelon Electronics Corp (TW:2472), which lost 9.21% or 7.30 points to trade at 72.00 in late trade. Yageo Corp (TW:2327) declined 8.12% or 84.00 points to end at 951.00 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) shed 7.93% or 18.00 points to 209.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 545 to 273 and 95 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.28% or 0.19 to $68.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.53% or 0.41 to hit $77.31 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.50 to trade at $1306.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 29.963, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2138.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.95.
