Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ace Pillar Co Ltd (TW:8374), which rose 10.00% or 3.40 points to trade at 37.40 at the close. Davicom Semiconductor Inc (TW:3094) added 9.94% or 2.30 points to end at 25.45 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) was up 8.70% or 3.45 points to 43.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402), which lost 9.78% or 1.75 points to trade at 16.15 in late trade. Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518) declined 7.75% or 2.90 points to end at 34.50 and Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp (TW:6176) shed 7.22% or 5.20 points to 66.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 467 to 292 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.13% or 0.07 to $53.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $60.20 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.07 to trade at $1270.73 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.184, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2197.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.68.
