Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Machinery, Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 2.95 points to trade at 32.45 at the close. PCL Technologies Inc (TW:4977) added 10.00% or 10.50 points to end at 115.50 and Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) was up 9.93% or 4.65 points to 51.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paragon Technologies Co Ltd (TW:3518), which lost 10.00% or 4.10 points to trade at 36.90 in late trade. Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912) declined 9.70% or 13.00 points to end at 121.00 and Taiwan Mask Corp (TW:2338) shed 9.42% or 1.70 points to 16.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 465 to 309 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.12% or 0.07 to $56.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $62.18 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 2.30 to trade at $1250.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 30.026, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2197.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.88.
