Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Optoelectronic and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Bestec Power Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3308), which rose 9.94% or 0.79 points to trade at 8.74 at the close. Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) added 9.93% or 0.69 points to end at 7.64 and Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) was up 9.91% or 0.56 points to 6.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443), which lost 10.00% or 20.00 points to trade at 180.00 in late trade. ASRock Inc (TW:3515) declined 9.95% or 7.90 points to end at 71.50 and Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399) shed 9.00% or 1.35 points to 13.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 397 to 391 and 83 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.34% or 0.17 to $49.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $55.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 5.88 to trade at $1335.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 30.036, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2175.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 92.03.
