Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Iron & Steel and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 9.94% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.99 at the close. Tainergy Tech (TW:4934) added 9.94% or 1.55 points to end at 17.15 and L&K Eng (TW:6139) was up 9.93% or 3.00 points to 33.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dafeng Tv (TW:6184), which lost 6.25% or 2.35 points to trade at 35.25 in late trade. Msi (TW:2377) declined 4.63% or 2.50 points to end at 51.50 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 4.63% or 0.05 points to 1.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 450 to 302 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.03 to $42.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.34% or 4.25 to trade at $1235.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.01% to 32.361, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.73.
