Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plastic, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Patec Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2236), which rose 9.91% or 5.40 points to trade at 59.90 at the close. Waffer Technology Corp (TW:6235) added 8.68% or 1.45 points to end at 18.15 and Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) was up 7.24% or 1.95 points to 28.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Edison Opto Corp (TW:3591), which lost 9.95% or 2.15 points to trade at 19.45 in late trade. Teapo Electronic Corp (TW:2375) declined 9.79% or 8.70 points to end at 80.20 and Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) shed 9.39% or 37.00 points to 357.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 549 to 264 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.49% or 0.32 to $65.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.48% or 0.36 to hit $75.44 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.30 to trade at $1275.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 30.158, while TWD/CNY fell 0.37% to 0.2142.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 94.79.
