Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Services, Construction and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.17% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425), which rose 9.97% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.55 at the close. Dah San Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1615) added 9.97% or 1.55 points to end at 17.10 and Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538) was up 9.92% or 0.51 points to 5.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Darfon Electronics Corp (TW:8163), which lost 7.61% or 2.65 points to trade at 32.15 in late trade. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) declined 6.36% or 7.00 points to end at 103.00 and Taiwan Paiho Ltd (TW:9938) shed 4.89% or 5.50 points to 107.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 453 to 337 and 102 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $63.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $69.18 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 1.60 to trade at $1335.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 29.566, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2181.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 90.38.
