Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Glass and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434), which rose 10.00% or 1.70 points to trade at 18.70 at the close. Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442) added 9.96% or 0.81 points to end at 8.94 and Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) was up 9.88% or 2.90 points to 32.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201), which lost 9.95% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.65 in late trade. Taiwan Line Tek Electronic Co Ltd (TW:2462) declined 9.08% or 2.90 points to end at 29.05 and Lily Textile Co Ltd (TW:1443) shed 5.56% or 0.33 points to 5.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 404 to 403 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.40% or 0.25 to $62.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.41% or 0.27 to hit $65.94 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 3.20 to trade at $1309.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.17% to 29.177, while TWD/CNY rose 0.32% to 0.2175.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 89.91.
