Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Semiconductor and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956), which rose 9.98% or 2.00 points to trade at 22.05 at the close. Sintronic Technology Inc (TW:3536) added 9.92% or 1.20 points to end at 13.30 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) was up 9.90% or 14.50 points to 161.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which lost 9.95% or 5.90 points to trade at 53.40 in late trade. Green Seal Holding Ltd (TW:1262) declined 9.93% or 3.75 points to end at 34.00 and Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708) shed 9.80% or 12.00 points to 110.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 454 to 329 and 125 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.01% or 0.01 to $68.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $73.60 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1312.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 29.723, while TWD/CNY fell 0.19% to 0.2136.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.39.
