Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Hotels, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 10.00% or 10.50 points to end at 115.50 and Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) was up 9.91% or 0.92 points to 10.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which lost 9.94% or 6.30 points to trade at 57.10 in late trade. Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) declined 9.92% or 5.00 points to end at 45.40 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) shed 9.82% or 1.95 points to 17.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 437 to 375 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.06% or 0.04 to $65.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $71.92 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.81% or 9.60 to trade at $1193.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.763, while TWD/CNY fell 0.54% to 0.2231.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 96.11.
