Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (TW:2368), which rose 10.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Ritek Corp (TW:2349) added 8.06% or 0.850 points to end at 11.400 and CSBC Corp Taiwan (TW:2208) was up 7.31% or 2.40 points to 35.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018), which lost 10.00% or 5.60 points to trade at 50.40 in late trade. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) declined 9.98% or 2.20 points to end at 19.85 and Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) shed 9.88% or 25.00 points to 228.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 424 to 359 and 136 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.11% or 0.07 to $65.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $71.34 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.30 to trade at $1181.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 30.776, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 96.36.
