Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Shinkong Syn F (TW:1409), which rose 9.99% or 0.94 points to trade at 10.35 at the close. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.97% or 0.31 points to end at 3.42 and Chuwa Wool (TW:1439) was up 9.95% or 1.90 points to 21.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eclat Textile (TW:1476), which lost 10.00% or 32.50 points to trade at 292.50 in late trade. Twn Pulp & Pap (TW:1902) declined 6.01% or 0.85 points to end at 13.30 and Li Cheng (TW:4426) shed 5.95% or 5.00 points to 79.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 508 to 288 and 80 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.48% or 0.26 to $53.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.37% or 0.21 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.64% or 7.70 to trade at $1216.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.70% to 31.090, while TWD/CNY rose 0.23% to 0.2206.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 99.45.
