Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.69% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 0.64% or 0.140 points to trade at 22.000 at the close. Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) added 0.33% or 0.07 points to end at 21.12 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was up 0.22% or 0.020 points to 9.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endesa (MC:ELE), which lost 4.49% or 0.845 points to trade at 17.970 in late trade. Acciona (MC:ANA) declined 4.36% or 3.400 points to end at 74.500 and Naturgy Energy Group SA (MC:GAS) shed 4.06% or 0.930 points to 21.990.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 146 to 28 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.43% or 29.00 to $1222.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.09% or 1.53 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.25% or 1.87 to trade at $81.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1578, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8772.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 94.86.
