Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 0.65% or 0.050 points to trade at 7.790 at the close. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 0.58% or 0.170 points to end at 29.610 and Indra A (MC:IDR) was up 0.47% or 0.050 points to 10.680 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cie Automotive (MC:CIEA), which lost 4.97% or 1.660 points to trade at 31.740 in late trade. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) declined 2.28% or 0.150 points to end at 6.434 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) shed 1.99% or 0.074 points to 3.650.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 124 to 53 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.35% or 4.40 to $1270.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.14% or 0.09 to hit $65.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 1.07 to trade at $73.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1598, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8759.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.59.
