Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.85% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 3.31% or 0.211 points to trade at 6.586 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 2.51% or 0.074 points to end at 3.024 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) was up 2.45% or 0.083 points to 3.469 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 1.39% or 0.119 points to trade at 8.420 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.28% or 0.145 points to end at 11.205 and Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) shed 1.12% or 0.059 points to 5.226.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 81 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.60% or 7.40 to $1225.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.10% or 0.58 to hit $53.19 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.56 to trade at $55.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.0554, while EUR/GBP rose 0.58% to 0.8617.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 101.92.
