Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 4.62% or 0.550 points to trade at 12.460 at the close. Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) added 2.61% or 0.290 points to end at 11.400 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 2.20% or 0.198 points to 9.208 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indra A (MC:IDR), which lost 2.18% or 0.240 points to trade at 10.770 in late trade. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) declined 1.23% or 0.320 points to end at 25.740 and Repsol (MC:REP) shed 1.04% or 0.145 points to 13.825.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 78 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.54% or 20.50 to $1350.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.39% or 0.23 to hit $59.42 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.33 to trade at $63.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.2405, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8880.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 89.19.
