Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 2.13% or 0.0018 points to trade at 0.0848 at the close. Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) added 2.00% or 20.0 points to end at 1020.0 and Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) was up 1.74% or 220.0 points to 12890.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which lost 2.07% or 225.0 points to trade at 10655.0 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.06% or 3800 points to end at 180700 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) shed 2.03% or 1.430 points to 68.930.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 94 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.14% to 36.740.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.00 to $1218.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.71% or 0.28 to hit $39.18 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.41 to trade at $40.62 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 68.4561, while EUR/RUB fell 0.27% to 76.695.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 95.97.
