Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which rose 4.86% or 68.0 points to trade at 1468.0 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 3.14% or 3.78 points to end at 124.00 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 2.05% or 18.0 points to 898.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which lost 4.96% or 117.0 points to trade at 2240.0 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 4.31% or 140.0 points to end at 3110.0 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) shed 3.57% or 108.0 points to 2916.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 103 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.96% to 24.140 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.27% or 3.40 to $1266.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.79% or 0.93 to hit $50.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.07 to trade at $51.60 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.16% to 62.3962, while EUR/RUB fell 0.26% to 68.206.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 98.27.
