Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 5.48% or 0.0454 points to trade at 0.8744 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 3.32% or 3.06 points to end at 95.29 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) was up 3.02% or 2.90 points to 98.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which lost 2.93% or 43.50 points to trade at 1442.00 in late trade. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 2.54% or 8.50 points to end at 325.50 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) shed 2.28% or 7.50 points to 321.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 128 to 99 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.20% to 24.920 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.01% or 13.55 to $1354.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.29% or 0.12 to hit $41.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.07 to trade at $43.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.98% to 65.9498, while EUR/RUB fell 0.47% to 73.625.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.11% at 95.62.
