Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 11.85% or 78.00 points to trade at 736.50 at the close. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) added 3.29% or 1.350 points to end at 42.395 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 2.66% or 2.10 points to 81.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 3.97% or 0.0695 points to trade at 1.6800 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 2.91% or 85.0 points to end at 2840.0 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) shed 2.68% or 0.0166 points to 0.6030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 95 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.35% to 34.510.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.25 to $1271.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.45% or 0.21 to hit $46.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.40 to trade at $47.20 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 65.2833, while EUR/RUB rose 0.07% to 74.291.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 94.07.
