Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.58% or 3.05 points to trade at 88.23 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) added 3.44% or 102.0 points to end at 3068.0 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was up 3.40% or 9.00 points to 274.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which lost 3.69% or 393.0 points to trade at 10250.0 in late trade. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 1.38% or 0.455 points to end at 32.400 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) shed 1.28% or 12 points to 927.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 97 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.89% to 28.030.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.13% or 15.15 to $1330.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.99% or 1.44 to hit $46.66 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.88% or 0.94 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.86% to 65.1523, while EUR/RUB rose 0.33% to 73.383.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 94.75.
