Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 3.91% or 28.5 points to trade at 758.0 at the close. Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) added 3.16% or 49.50 points to end at 1614.50 and MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) was up 3.05% or 0.0685 points to 2.3125 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which lost 3.07% or 3.25 points to trade at 102.50 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 2.21% or 53.0 points to end at 2347.0 and Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) shed 2.14% or 2.71 points to 124.19.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 101 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.22% to 23.260.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.35 to $1251.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.19% or 1.08 to hit $50.43 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.19% or 1.15 to trade at $53.66 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.36% to 56.8000, while EUR/RUB fell 0.74% to 63.566.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 97.17.
