Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 3.72% or 30.70 points to trade at 855.70 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 3.21% or 4800 points to end at 154500 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.91% or 0.835 points to 29.485 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 2.29% or 0.470 points to trade at 20.040 in late trade. Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) declined 2.29% or 28.00 points to end at 1194.50 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) shed 1.92% or 6.90 points to 352.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 101 and 30 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.22% to 23.110 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.40% or 5.05 to $1268.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.16% or 0.58 to hit $49.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.73 to trade at $50.06 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.02% to 62.9032, while EUR/RUB rose 1.32% to 68.642.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 98.58.
