Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which rose 1.82% or 42.00 points to trade at 2345.00 at the close. Unipro (MCX:UPRO) added 1.72% or 0.0490 points to end at 2.9000 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 0.88% or 99.0 points to 11359.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which lost 5.42% or 5.750 points to trade at 100.250 in late trade. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) declined 3.82% or 2.85 points to end at 71.80 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) shed 3.74% or 6450 points to 166050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 95 and 27 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 7.96% to 20.230.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.24% or 3.00 to $1247.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.94% or 0.66 to hit $69.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.15 to trade at $73.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.31% to 62.1643, while EUR/RUB fell 0.17% to 72.6550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 94.48.
