Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 16.14% or 72.6 points to trade at 522.5 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 2.22% or 0.1550 points to end at 7.1500 and X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) was up 1.88% or 33.0 points to 1793.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN), which lost 1.62% or 6.95 points to trade at 421.55 in late trade. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 1.57% or 0.0006 points to end at 0.0376 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) shed 1.49% or 17.00 points to 1126.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 132 to 97 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.92% to 21.620.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.23% or 3.05 to $1316.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.88% or 0.47 to hit $54.13 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.65 to trade at $62.63 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.22% to 65.7641, while EUR/RUB fell 0.07% to 74.8300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.012.
