Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 7.52% or 10.00 points to trade at 143.00 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 6.54% or 22.30 points to end at 363.40 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 6.50% or 16.60 points to 271.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR), which lost 1.32% or 10 points to trade at 746 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 0.61% or 20.0 points to end at 3270.0 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) shed 0.45% or 0.145 points to 31.755.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 154 to 64 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.72% to 27.350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.17% or 2.10 to $1203.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.48 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.11 to trade at $51.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.33% to 58.8011, while EUR/RUB fell 0.49% to 62.681.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 101.19.
