Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 5.64% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0382 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 3.33% or 0.2100 points to end at 6.5250 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 2.63% or 6.95 points to 270.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which lost 1.97% or 12.00 points to trade at 596.50 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 1.76% or 1.80 points to end at 100.60 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) shed 1.32% or 0.510 points to 37.990.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.86% to 27.670.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.70 to $1228.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.06% or 0.66 to hit $61.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.32 to trade at $71.81 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 66.1385, while EUR/RUB rose 0.49% to 75.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 95.74.
