Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.81% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 2.62% or 0.325 points to trade at 12.715 at the close. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) added 2.26% or 8.40 points to end at 380.20 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 2.17% or 3.20 points to 150.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 2.49% or 17.90 points to trade at 702.10 in late trade. Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) declined 2.22% or 8 points to end at 353 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 2.18% or 0.930 points to 41.720.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 132 to 96 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.87% to 16.810.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.66% or 8.70 to $1311.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.51% or 0.93 to hit $62.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.70 to trade at $68.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.03% to 57.0063, while EUR/RUB fell 1.04% to 67.9579.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 92.33.
