July 17 (Reuters) - Global miner Rio Tinto (LON:RIO) RIO.AX said on Tuesday that its second-quarter iron ore shipments from Australia rose 14 percent, bolstered by sustained production across its projects.
Australian iron ore shipments totaled 88.5 million tonnes in the quarter ended June 30, compared to 77.7 million tonnes a year ago, the company said in a statement.
Rio Tinto said iron ore production in the region rose 7 percent to 85.5 million tonnes for the quarter.
