Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.94% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which rose 2.59% or 0.0220 points to trade at 0.8700 at the close. Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS) added 1.47% or 0.120 points to end at 8.260 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 0.81% or 0.0850 points to 10.5800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Semapa (LS:SEM), which lost 5.00% or 0.6800 points to trade at 12.9200 in late trade. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) declined 4.22% or 0.2500 points to end at 5.6800 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 3.86% or 0.0620 points to 1.5460.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was down 1.15% or 0.71 to $60.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.56% or 0.82 to hit $51.79 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.28% or 3.45 to trade at $1249.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1373, while EUR/GBP rose 1.14% to 0.9045.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 97.023.
