Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 3.23% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were mBank (WA:MBK), which rose 7.35% or 26.10 points to trade at 381.00 at the close. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) added 7.08% or 4.60 points to end at 69.60 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was up 6.97% or 23.00 points to 353.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP), which lost 0.61% or 0.23 points to trade at 37.51 in late trade. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) declined 0.39% or 0.32 points to end at 82.00 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) gained 0.19% or 10.00 points to 5390.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 361 to 232 and 158 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.17% or 0.09 to $53.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $55.47 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.98% or 11.85 to trade at $1198.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.21% to 4.3620, while USD/PLN fell 0.27% to 4.0624.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 100.04.
