Investing.com – Philippines equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking & Financials, Services and Holding Firms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO), which rose 6.38% or 105.00 points to trade at 1750.00 at the close. Metro Pacific Investments Corp (PS:MPI) added 3.65% or 0.190 points to end at 5.400 and Jollibee Foods Corp (PS:JFC) was up 1.80% or 5.00 points to 283.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JG Summit Holdings Inc (PS:JGS), which lost 3.98% or 2.450 points to trade at 59.050 in late trade. Security Bank Corp (PS:SECB) declined 3.86% or 7.60 points to end at 189.50 and Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc (PS:AEV) shed 3.08% or 1.900 points to 59.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 113 to 72 and 59 ended unchanged on the Philippines Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.59% or 7.80 to $1305.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.97% or 2.05 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.95% or 2.21 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was up 0.08% to 8.1528, while USD/PHP rose 0.22% to 52.016.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 93.13.
