Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Software & Computer Services and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 2.85% or 4.02 points to trade at 145.30 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 2.11% or 0.68 points to end at 32.73 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was up 2.03% or 1.54 points to 77.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL), which lost 1.02% or 0.40 points to trade at 38.80 in late trade. Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) declined 0.53% or 0.12 points to end at 22.41 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 0.24% or 0.012 points to 5.024.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 38 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.83% to 16.59.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 3.61% or 1.93 to $55.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 2.30% or 1.44 to hit $63.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.10 to trade at $1227.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1391, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8914.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 96.597.
