Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which rose 3.68% or 1.43 points to trade at 40.28 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.40% or 0.632 points to end at 19.202 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 2.64% or 2.340 points to 90.880 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 3.51% or 0.74 points to trade at 20.32 in late trade. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) declined 0.12% or 0.04 points to end at 34.30 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) 0.00% or 0.000 points to 4.357.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 26 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.69% to 19.61.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.02% or 0.52 to $51.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.37% or 0.22 to hit $60.19 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.9035.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 97.422.
